VATM enlists NATS expertise to support Viet Nam’s rapid aviation growth
NATS, the UK’s leading Air Traffic Control provider, has partnered with Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) to unlock additional airport capacity, optimise airspace and explore time-based separation tools, enabling Viet Nam’s significant growth ambitions to become a reality.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 8th July 2026, at the CANSO Asia Pacific Conference, held in Da Nang, Viet Nam, an event attended by representatives from government, air navigation services providers (ANSPs) and aerospace manufacturers in the aviation industry.

VATM will utilise NATS’ proven expertise and experience in safely and efficiently managing ATM operations in some of the world’s busiest airports and in the most constrained airspace environments.
Additionally, to support VATM in achieving its strategic ambitions, NATS will assist VATM to upskill and develop a future-ready workforce and work on joint Projects to strengthen safety, quality, and performance management, accelerate digital transformation and support Net Zero commitments.
NATS to support one of the world’s fastest-growing air travel countries
Viet Nam is one of the world’s fastest-growing countries for passenger air travel and is home to Southeast Asia’s busiest domestic route – Ho Chi Minh City – Ha Noi.
Ben Kiff, Managing Director International at NATS, said: “Traffic in the region is growing at around 8% per year, meaning there is a huge opportunity for VATM to enlist our expertise and our world-leading technology to help with spacing of aircraft, enhancing capacity and designing the airspace for the future.”

“We are delighted to begin this new journey with NATS, as this MOU paves the way for a strong Strategic Partnership between VATM and NATS,” said Mr Le Hoang Minh, Chairman of VATM.
“We look forward to the future with great excitement, expecting this collaboration to bring opportunities for us both to grow and transform our services. Partnering with NATS will support us in relieving capacity constraints at major airports, building a sustainable, competency-based workforce, accelerating our digital transformation with controlled risk, and actively contributing to environmental sustainability”.
