Newquay Airport to open new hangar

Aerohub announced today that a new aircraft hangar is now available within its new Enterprise Zone (EZ) at Newquay Cornwall Airport.

It is located on England’s only aerospace EZ, situated on a state-of-the-art civilian airport. As such, the aircraft hangar has direct airside access to one of the UK’s longest runways at 2,744m.

The hangar can accommodate two Boeing 737/A320, or a single A330-200 & 300, utilising the hangar as a single bay. A smaller two bay hangar option is also available that would accommodate two Boeing 737/A320, or two B757-300 planes and includes office accommodation and parking.

Fully designed and with funding identified, it is available to be purchased off plan with construction scheduled to commence immediately upon contract signing. Construction of the hangar is scheduled to take just 12-18 months, with the completed facility available to the client in 2014/2015. The EZ itself is covered by two Local Development Orders (LDO) that enable extensive commercial development opportunities, so no planning permission is required and there are no planning costs or fees. In addition, any future expansions or alterations will also be covered by the LDOs.

Aerohub extends to 650 acres in three airport development zones and a major business park, which could accommodate more than two million square feet of hangar space, offices and manufacturing supporting up to 5,000 jobs. As a result of the EZ status, the area has the benefit of significant planning freedoms, as well as 100% business rate relief for five years.

Al Titterington, managing director, Newquay Cornwall Airport: “We anticipate significant interest in this new facility when it is marketed at the ‘Aerospace In Cornwall’ stand at the Dubai Airshow. Aerohub is an ideal choice for aerospace companies looking for operational freedom in which to develop and grow. This space is testament to the fact that Aerohub is quickly becoming Europe’s premier aerospace destination.”
