Over 50 students enrolled on Middlesex Uni Professional Aviation Pilot Practice degree with CTC

Numbers have been steadily growing since launch in January 2014. The degree, which is jointly delivered by Middlesex University and CTC Aviation and embedded in the CTC WINGS airline pilot career programme syllabus, is rapidly gaining in popularity and is now accepted by the majority of the CTC WINGS Airline Partners as an option.
The degree, which existing trainees and qualified pilots can also apply for, has been developed to meet the requirements of both a degree and a higher apprenticeship. This innovative combination means that when a student is training independently, or as an apprentice, the requirements for both programmes are met. To be an apprentice the student will need to be employed by a programme partner.

Ray Elgy, Advisory Board Member at ASP who also chaired the Programme Board that helped bring the degree to the point of launch said: “This is a programme which makes a significant contribution to increasing accessibility to pilot training and I am really pleased to see the airline recognition and individuals enrolling on this industry initiative. It is great to see that the hard work of all who have contributed to this development is being recognised.”
The enrolment of the first 50 students, who will graduate with a BSc (Hons) degree and a professional airline transport pilot’s licence which fully meets all UK CAA requirements, is just one of a number of important milestones reached by the Middlesex University, CTC Aviation and the Aviation Skills Partnership
