Launched during London Tech Week and convened by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, QinetiQ will join companies including Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, BP, BT and Vodafone. Quantum technologies represent one of the most transformative areas of science and technology today, with the potential to unlock significant advances across sectors, from secure communications and advanced computing to highly sensitive sensing solutions. For defence and national security, these technologies are particularly critical in enabling resilience against increasing complex threats.

QinetiQ’s work in quantum directly supports defence capability, including the development of assured Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) solutions, which are vital for maintaining operational effectiveness where traditional GPS signals may be denied or disrupted.

As a member of the Alliance, QinetiQ will contribute to senior-level discussions alongside government and industry peers to help shape the UK’s approach to quantum adoption, identify barriers to deployment and drive collective action to maintain the UK’s global leadership in this rapidly evolving field.

Rob Sergeant, Chief Technology Officer at QinetiQ, said: “Quantum technologies are critical to future defence and being part of the UK Quantum Growth Alliance enables QinetiQ to contribute our expertise in helping accelerate warfighting readiness, strengthen resilience and ensure the UK remains at the forefront of this strategically important domain.”
