RDS launching harsh environment recorders at DSEI 2013

Next week's DSEI 2013 will see the international launch of the eagerly anticipated DVR (digital video recorder) and NVR (network video recorder) by London-based manufacturer Rugged DVR Systems Ltd (RDS).

The ruggedised, small footprint video recording products are primarily designed for use onboard military armoured vehicles, and within aerospace projects for situational awareness and incident review.

Commercial versions of the military DVR and NVR have also been produced, with all four products shown side by side at DSEI 2013, where visitors will be among the first to view live demonstrations of the products.

The recording products have been designed for compatibility with the world-renowned Wavestore® video management software (VMS), an advanced Linux-based platform for video surveillance which can facilitate the simultaneously recording of images captured by combinations of analogue, IP, megapixel, HD, HDcctv, thermal imaging and 360 degree cameras. This will offer maximum flexibility to users of the products, without compromising on specification or durability of design.

Produced in conjunction with Sascal Displays, the electronics company with over 20 years’ experience in the global defence market, the units are designed to meet exacting standards, including EMC Land Class A and a host of published UK/US defence standards. With ultra-low power consumption, and compatibility with a wide variety of storage media, including solid state hard drives, the products are designed to suit all major military platforms.

The commercial versions of the military recorders see customisations on its mechanical housing, and functions using power over Ethernet (PoE). This simpler design is primarily for use in heavy industrial environments such as mines, quarries, oil rigs and onboard a variety of transportation media.
