Roll-Royce appoints two non-exec directors
Warren East (right), previously chief executive of ARM Holdings, is a non-executive director and chairman of the Audit committee of De La Rue plc. and a non-executive director of Dyson and Micron Technology Inc. BT Group has also announced his appointment as a non-executive director with effect from 1 February 2014.
The chairman of Rolls-Royce, Ian Davis, said: "I am delighted to welcome Warren onto the Board of Rolls-Royce. He brings a wealth of experience in the global technology sector and an outstanding record of business achievement that will be of great value to Rolls-Royce."
Warren East graduated in Engineering Science from Oxford University and holds an MBA from Cranfield University who also awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2011. He joined ARM Holdings in 1994 and was appointed chief executive in 2001. Under his leadership the company became the world's leading Semiconductor IP licensing company. He retired from the ARM Holdings in 2013. Mr East is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and a Distinguished Fellow of the BCS.
Lee Hsien Yang (right) serves as a special advisor of General Atlantic, LLC. and has been a member of the Rolls-Royce International Advisory Board since 2006.
Ian Davis said: "Mr Lee combines a strong background in engineering with extensive international business experience in our most important growth markets."
Lee Hsien Yang graduated in Engineering Science from Cambridge University and has an MSC from Stanford University. Mr Lee was chief executive of Singapore Telecommunications Limited for 11 years prior to joining Fraser and Neave Limited as chairman and non-executive director from 2007 until February 2013. He is chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and is also chairman of General Atlantic Singapore Fund Pte Ltd. and of the Islamic Bank of Asia Private Limited (a DBS Bank subsidiary). Mr Lee is also a director of the Singapore Exchange Limited, the Australian & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd. (ANZ) and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and is president of the INSEAD South East Asia Council.
