The facility is now fully operational, providing a dedicated space for system testing, software integration and customer acceptance – enhancing delivery speed, quality assurance and the in house technical capability.

As Saab’s UK centre of excellence for radar engineering, the Fareham Campus supports production and sustainment of radar systems including Giraffe 1X, Giraffe AMB and TAIPAN (Arthur).

The site forms part of Saab UK’s growing national footprint, supporting around 400 skilled roles across radar and underwater robotics.

Andy Fraser, Group Managing Director at Saab UK, said: “Producing our 100th Giraffe 1X and bringing the new I&V facility online is a significant step for our Sensor Systems team. These achievements demonstrate the strength of our people and the powerful combination of Swedish engineering and British manufacturing capability.”

It is a field proven Multi Mission Radar operated worldwide, with production carried out in both Sweden and the UK. Its mission set spans force protection, weapon locating, ground based air defence – including C UAS detection – and sea surface surveillance, providing exceptional adaptability for modern operations across diverse environments.

Saab UK will continue to develop its capability, strengthening production capacity, advancing testing capability and supporting future radar programmes for customers in the UK and internationally.
