Serco has announced Clare Pearson has taken over as the new Custodial Operations Director at HMP Dovegate, near Uttoxeter, replacing John Hewitson who has moved to HMP Doncaster.

Previously Clare has been Governor at an impressive and diverse number of prisons, including closed women's prison and young offenders institute, HMP Foston Hall; high-security men’s prison, HMP Belmarsh; high-security men’s prison, HMP Long Lartin and mixed category men’s prison HMP Hewell.

Talking about her new post, Clare said: “I am delighted to have joined Serco at HMP Dovegate.  As a Category ‘B’ prison with over 1,000 prisoners serving a range of sentences, as well as the specialist Therapeutic Centre, this prison has a complex and challenging group of prisoners.

“As HM Inspector of Prisons said in February, Dovegate has made some notable progress over the last two years, becoming a safer, well run and settled prison, with confident and engaged prisoners and knowledgeable staff.

“That is all down to the team of hidden heroes who work here and who do an amazing job and I am looking forward to building on the good work that’s been done over the past few years.”
