Singapore Airlines launch third daily A380 operated service from London Heathrow

Singapore Airlines has launched a third A380 at London Heathrow, flying the London – Singapore route.

The carrier is now the only airline to offer a full A380 service from London Heathrow.

Phee Teik Yeoh, Singapore Airlines' general manager UK & Ireland, said: “I’m delighted that today we have added another A380 to our services from London Heathrow.  It’s a sign of our commitment not only to fly modern and environmentally advanced aircraft but also to pursue expansion in the UK. We are currently facing barriers to further growth at London Heathrow, which is operating close to full capacity. Operating a larger aircraft is one of the only means we have to grow but this too is unsustainable as with all our routes now operated by A380s, we have now exhausted this option too. We hope that this summer’s government consultation on the future of aviation will tackle the important issue of capacity and suggest viable solutions which take into account the vital contribution the aviation industry makes to the British economy. We look forward to participating in this crucial debate.”
