Thai Flight Training Academy adopts Symbiotics' ADAPT

A team of trainers and examiners from Symbiotics Ltd. has just returned from delivering an ADAPT examiner training programme in Thailand, for Thai Flight Training Academy who train Ab Initios for Thai Airways International and Thai Smile.

With a mission statement to maintain the highest standards of safety and training, the Thai Flight Training Academy (TFTA) in Bangkok has chosen ADAPT(TM) as the preferred pre-selection toolkit for ab-initio candidates. The academy provides three advanced professional commercial pilot courses - Airline Transition Training Course, Flight Instructor Training Programme and a recently introduced Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) course, fulfilling the requirements of every international airline.

Nikki Heath, Founder and CEO of Symbiotics Ltd. said: “Seven pilots and one cabin crew have now qualified to administer ADAPT(TM) and are now helping TFTA select candidates for their MPL programme. When accepting ab-initio candidates on this course, Thai Airways International requires a reliable prediction of the performance of candidates aspiring to become pilots.

Measuring their levels of motivation, suitability to operational roles, competency to succeed in training and their ability to merge with the airline’s ethos and culture help forecast their employability in due course.

With this is mind, TFTA are encouraging students at various universities in Thailand, who wish to pursue a career in flying to undergo ADAPT(TM) training.

Nikki Heath added: “ADAPT(TM) produces reports on each candidate that provides comprehensive predictability to both TFTA and the individual as to how they would fare in flight training and fit into the culture of Thai Flight Training Academy; enabling both parties to make informed decisions on future training requirements or career choices.”

This benefits the academy and the individual whereby neither wastes time or money on unnecessary training as ADAPT(TM) reports on candidates’ strengths and weaknesses in personality, skills and motivation, helping improve performance and reducing training wastage.

Symbiotics Ltd is also providing TFTA with Silver-level support which facilitates on-going mentoring to cadets on effective coping strategies and performance enhancement training, specific to syllabus events.

This pioneering initiative aims to make flight training a more mature and qualitative process in Thailand, paving the way for intelligent pilot selections and making air travel safer.
