TRaC offering testing and certification advice at DSEI
This will be the first year that TRaC Global is attending DSEI as part of Element Materials Technology. The recent acquisition was Element’s largest to date and will strengthen TRaC Global’s offering to the defence and security industries, extending its services as well as its reach with a total of 51 global facilities.
Mark Heaven, CEO at TRaC Global explained: “Testing and certification is vital to any manufacturer wishing to market to the defence industries and fulfil the diverse legal obligations and compliance procedures required to reach international markets. It’s essential that security and defence equipment is proven to an exceptional level of survivability, reliability and interference-free functionality in the extreme electromagnetic, climatic and mechanical conditions that can potentially be encountered in the defence environment.
“Through working with prime contractors and sub-system suppliers of defence equipment across the land, sea and air domains, TRaC has built an industry reputation as a trusted testing and certification partner for manufacturers. Element’s acquisition of TRaC means that we will continue to provide our leading product qualification and testing services, further supported by Element’s materials technology expertise and global reach.”
At its UKAS accredited Environmental and EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) test centres of excellence for aerospace and defence, TRaC Global identifies which range of tests equipment must pass to confidently meet the increasingly stringent qualification requirements of the defence industry.
As part of its EMC testing and certification, TRaC Global has the ability to test equipment over a wide range of emissions and immunity requirements to commercial, industrial and military standards. For environmental qualification, TRaC has a range of climatic chambers to replicate the operational, storage and transportation environments, and a range of electrodynamic shakers, which simulate a breadth of vibration and shock signatures from tracked vehicle to rotary wing aircrafts. This is coupled with a team of stress analysis consultants to model and predict equipment’s mechanical behaviour and fatigue life through computer simulation.
TRaC’s test capabilities cover Environmental and EMC defence standards (MIL STD 461 and 810, DEF STAN 00-35, 59-411 and 61-5) as well as Aerospace EMC (RTCA-DO160 etc) and CE marking of military equipment (e.g. EN 55022, EN 55024, EN 61326). The leading testing and certification group also draws on its experience with various prime contractor requirements including Airbus-specific test standards.
TRaC Global's Early Stage Qualification (ESQ) service engages clients early on in a project to provide strategic guidance, from initial concept and throughout the whole development cycle, focusing on the best approach to bring products to market quickly and successfully.
Heaven concluded: “TRaC Global will continue to stay ahead of the curve to help customers develop their testing programmes and get to market quickly and efficiently, no matter how challenging the economic climate. Accustomed to working to tight deadlines, we can really make a difference to companies looking to reduce unnecessary costs associated with the duplication of testing and assessment.”
