Turner & Townsend and IGG win Schiphol Airport cost management contract

Global professional services company Turner & Townsend and construction costs expert IGG, have won the contract to jointly provide cost management for a major expansion of the main international airport in the Netherlands, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

In a joint venture, both Turner & Townsend and IGG will be responsible for controlling all costs of construction work for a new terminal and pier, and associated projects, both land and airside at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

The new terminal, scheduled for completion in 2023, will be constructed to the south of Schiphol Plaza, directly next to the air traffic control tower and will be connected to the existing terminal. It is anticipated to serve 14 million passengers per year, bringing the total number that use the airport hub to more than 70 million.

The new flexible pier will be located near Cargo Station 1 and is expected to be ready for use in late 2019. The pier will accommodate multiple wide and narrow-body aircraft. Major modifications will need to be carried out on the surrounding road network and existing parking facilities will be relocated. 

Turner & Townsend has worked with major airport programmes on every continent, totalling more than 140 projects, valued at $35 billion, in 19 countries. IGG is an independent consultant specialising in cost engineering and cost control for construction and civil engineering.
