UK MoD awards safety contract to BMT

BMT Isis Ltd (BMT) has announced that it will provide safety management support for the UK Ministry of Defence's (MoD) Operational Support Programmes (OSP) which deliver vital support for troops out in the field.

Consisting of two programmes, the OSP delivers a range of equipment for troops. The Operational Support Vehicles Programme (OSVP) has responsibility for the procurement and in-service management of specialist and logistic vehicles, whilst the Operational Infrastructure Programme (OIP) is responsible for the infrastructure, utilities, support and test equipment across the land environment.

Under this framework agreement BMT will deliver independent safety management for the OSVP and OIP which will include the maintenance of a significant number of safety cases, safety statements - up to 350 hazard logs and 50 safety statements for over 10,000 consumable items and assets.

Mike Prince, Managing Director of BMT Isis commented: “BMT is well placed to deliver this contract having many years of experience delivering strategic frameworks of this kind, across capital programmes and in multiple sectors. As an independent enterprise, we are able to demonstrate a level of objectivity across the OSP portfolio which in turn, has provided the MoD with assurance of our ability to deliver impartial advice.”

BMT will draw upon its cross sector knowledge, its technological expertise and its strategic engagement with multiple Top Level Budget (TLB) holders to better understand the issues facing the MoD and the wider defence community.

Our involvement at the policy level of Safety & Environment within the MoD’s Defence, Equipment & Support organisation will bring much added value to OSP. As a ‘customer friend’ we will work very closely with our OSP colleagues to deliver support over the next four years and to cement our strong relationship across the land domain.”
