The company fought off competition from valve manufacturer Fort Vale Engineering and energy systems manufacturer WEMS International to be crowned the winner on the 26th April following a public vote.
Ian Wilson, Chief Executive of WFEL, said: “Our roots in the North West go back to 1935 when our factory in Stockport was first opened.
“Since those early days when we designed and manufactured aircraft we have evolved to become the world-leading specialist in tactical bridging — but Stockport is still our home.
“It’s a huge honour to be given this award, especially as the North West is renowned for its manufacturing pedigree.”
