Egis appoints Shakir Khaja to drive UK and Ireland airport growth

Based in London, Shakir brings more than 25 years of international aviation experience, having led large-scale programmes and initiatives for major airports including Heathrow, London City Airport and Fraport Greece. He joins Egis from Arcadis, where he served as Senior Director for the aviation sector and is also a board member of the British Aviation Group.

In his new role, Shakir will work directly with airport clients and stakeholders to identify where the firm’s capabilities can deliver measurable impact, supporting long-term programmes spanning expansion, operational performance, sustainability and capacity optimisation. 

The appointment reflects Egis’s wider strategy to grow its presence in the UK and Irish airport sector and underlines its increased commitment to the industry, as operators respond to rising passenger demand, decarbonisation requirements and the need to optimise existing infrastructure.

Egis brings more than 15 years of global aviation experience and works with over 100 airports in more than 40 countries, including Heathrow, Gatwick and Dublin Airport. The firm also operates a network of 21 airports worldwide, providing direct operational insight alongside its advisory and engineering expertise. Its services cover the full lifecycle of airport development, including strategy and business case development through to planning, design, delivery and operational readiness.
