A giant poppy to remember

British Airways will be shutting down its engines and asking customers and colleagues to observe two-minute's silence for Remembrance Day, this Sunday 11 November at 11am.

A giant poppy - an instantly recogisable symbol of respect for our armed forces - was displayed at the airline's engineering base at Heathrow, unveiled by British Airways Cabin Crew Rebecca Wadsworth (above).

The airport is usually a bustling place but for two-minutes on Sunday - on the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month - no aircraft engine at any UK station will start up and British Airways colleagues will join the country to remember them.
