Aegean Airlines select ARINC's AviNet Airport solution for Heathrow, Munich and Brussels

Aegean Airlines has selected ARINC's AviNet Airport for network connectivity at three airports, Heathrow, Munich and Brussels.

As is common with many airlines in the Europe Middle East African (EMEA) region, Aegean Airlines, a current ARINC customer, required reliable cost-effective access to its Amadeus ALTEA DCS from the airports where ARINC's MUSE and SelfServ platforms are operational.

Aegean Airlines identified the commercial benefits of using AviNet Airport in Heathrow Airport (LHR) to meet their requirements. ARINC provided and managed both the ALTEA Customer Management and Flight Management software deployment and DCS network access services, as an integrated AviNet Airport service in LHR, allowing Aegean Airlines to reduce the in-house resources needed for the implementation at Heathrow. In addition to LHR, Aegean Airlines identified similar commercial benefits in Munich Airport (MUC). Aegean Airlines also selected AviNet Airport in Brussels Airport (BRU), where ARINC recently deployed a new vMUSE platform and was able to provide an advanced and highly reliable network service for all airlines using that airport.

For each of the three airports, ARINC has provided a standard end-to-end deployment together with an agreed speedy network implementation lead-time integrated within the AviNet Airport service.

"AviNet Airport service provides us with a reliable, high-performance network service to access our mission-critical departure control system, regardless of location," said Aristidis Kamvisis, director of information technology at Aegean Airlines. "We are very pleased with the results we are experiencing with AviNet Airport service."

"ARINC's AviNet supports any operation within an airport requiring wide-area network access, including both mission-critical as well as back-office applications," said Alexis Hickox, Senior Director, Aviation Solutions ARINC EMEA. "We believe the ability to handle such a wide range of applications will enable Aegean Airlines to benefit greatly from its deployment of AviNet Airport."

AviNet Airport currently provides end-to-end IP network communications for over 70 airlines around the world and is continually expanding to include strategic airports in the European, Middle East, Asian Pacific and American regions.

Aegean Airlines, a Star Alliance member since June 2010, is Greece's largest full-service airline, carrying 6.1 million passengers in 2012. The company invests on strengthening its international presence and on supporting the Greek tourism both in Athens and in regional airports. The Company has been honored with the Skytrax World Airline award, as the best European regional airline for 2012.
