BMT supports key tech for MoD's Medical Training Centre at DMS Whittington

BMT Hi-Q Sigma Ltd (BMT) has completed its work package as part of the delivery team for the Defence Medical Education Local Area Network (DMEL) – a key piece of information technology which will support the Defence Medical Services' (DMS) commitment to providing an internationally renowned medical training centre for service personnel.

The primary role of the DMS is to ensure that service personnel are medically fit for deployment where they are required in the UK and throughout the world. The Midlands Medical Accommodation (MMA) programme is a multi-million pound redevelopment of DMS Whittington in Staffordshire (above) that will provide a centre of excellence for the DMS. A key requirement of this programme was the delivery of the DMEL in line with the redeveloped and new MMA buildings becoming available.

To ensure the successful delivery of the DMEL for the UK’s Ministry of Defence, BMT implemented a two-pronged approach. First, the team engaged with the end user community to develop both the User Requirements and Systems Requirements and enable the development of robust proposals. Second, BMT also developed customised Bid Evaluation Criteria and documented a Bid Assessment process which were highly commended and utilised by all those involved in the DMEL bid evaluation process.

Andy Howard, Business Development Manager at BMT Hi-Q Sigma comments: “Despite being brought into this project at an advanced stage, with the construction phase well underway, both BMT and Centerprise who were chosen to deliver the technology, were able to work closely with the MoD to deliver this project on time and on budget.”
