Boeing celebrates 10 years of customer training in London

Boeing first opened the doors of its Flight Services London-Gatwick training campus in September of 2004, with room for four full-flight simulators and two dozen employees.

Today — 10 years later — the site boasts seven simulators, three of which are advanced 787 training devices (the most at any single Boeing Flight Services campus). Of the site’s current 60 employees, 17 have been providing training support to airlines since the doors opened a decade ago.

“We are proud to have been providing international customer training in London for 10 years, and look forward to many more decades providing services when and where our customers need it,” said Sherry Carbary, vice president of Boeing Flight Services. “Looking at how much our campus has grown to meet Europe’s expanding fleet, we look forward to what the next 10 years will bring.”

Since 2004, the Boeing Flight Services London-Gatwick campus (above) has:
• Provided more than 1,800 flight training courses
• Trained more than 3,500 pilots
• Provided more than 235,000 hours of full-flight simulator training
• Supported more than 90 customers from almost 50 countries

“The rapid growth of the London-Gatwick campus over 10 years demonstrates how effective Boeing is at meeting customers’ requirements with world-class training facilities and the team at Gatwick is committed to providing the best possible support for our customers from all around the world,” said Sir Roger Bone, president, Boeing UK.

The London-Gatwick campus provides flight training for the following aircraft: 737, 757, 767, 777 and 787.

Boeing employs around 1,700 people across the UK at numerous sites, from Glasgow to Gosport, and the company is experiencing solid organic growth. In 2013 Boeing celebrated 75 years of partnership with the United Kingdom, the Armed Forces, British manufacturing and the air transport industry. Today the UK remains a critically important market, supplier base and a source of some of the world’s most inventive technology partners.
