Britten-Norman BN2T-4S Islander approved by TCAA

This approval complements existing Type Certificates held with the UK CAA, EASA and FAA, and marks a significant step in Britten-Norman’s global expansion. Certification in Canada opens new opportunities across one of the world’s largest remote and regional aviation markets, where operators rely on proven, rugged and reliable short-field aircraft capable of year-round operation.

New Islander aircraft build slots are now available, as well as pre-owned BN2T-4S models, currently receiving full OEM refurbishment at Britten-Norman’s UK MRO facility. Operators can choose whichever route best fits their needs when joining the Islander fleet.

Mark Shipp, Technical Director & Head of Design, said: “Achieving type certification for any aircraft requires extensive technical work and close collaboration with regulators. We’re proud to have worked with TCCA and UK CAA to demonstrate the BN2T-4S’s compliance and capability. This approval is an important milestone for the Islander family and the operators who will be able to depend on its proven performance in one of the world’s most demanding environments.”

Richard Milne, Chief Operating Officer, added: “For operators serving remote and coastal regions, the BN2T-4S provides dependable performance across every mission, ensuring confidence in even the most challenging conditions. This certification strengthens our presence in key global markets and supports our long-term commitment to growing the worldwide Islander fleet with modern, highly capable aircraft.”

The Islander remains one of the world’s most trusted utility aircraft, with configurations available for commuter transport, medevac, maritime patrol, surveillance and special mission roles. The BN2T-4S continues this legacy, delivering dependable performance and versatility, helping operators get the most from every Islander aircraft.
