The focus of the visit was to discuss Meggitt’s investments in sustainable aviation and manufacturing and supporting the Government’s 10-point plan for a green industrial revolution. Minister Scully was shown how additively manufactured thermal systems will play a major part in the roadmap to sustainable aviation.  A roundtable was then hosted with a number of aerospace focused SMEs, from across the UK, to discuss the role of the industry’s supply chain to support its sustainability agenda and net-zero targets.

During the visit, Minister Scully also met with Meggitt’s latest intake of graduates and apprentices. He and senior Meggitt leadership discussed initiatives and policies that will help drive the Government’s levelling up agenda and grow the West Midland’s economy.  Meggitt is a large regional employer, with over 1000 highly skilled workers based at their Ansty Park campus and other facilities in the West Midlands.

"We are committed to working with the government and our local communities to deliver on our sustainability agenda, built on our core pillars of people, planet and technology, which continues to drive our future business decisions and success.”

Business Minister, Paul Scully said: “Meggitt is right at the forefront of our plans to drive down emissions and achieve a green industrial revolution. It has been fantastic to see how Meggitt are developing high-tech aircraft components which will pave the way for clean aviation and greener operations, as well as creating high-skilled jobs in the Midlands.

“Supporting innovative pioneers like Meggitt is essential in helping us level up every part of the UK and build back greener from the pandemic.”
