Aiming to inspire the next generation into careers in aviation and engineering, the children from Milton Keynes Academy were able to tour an aircraft and meet sniffer dogs as part of the event.

Sessions delivered by Cranfield experts and representatives from industry partners Boeing, Heathrow and Spirent Communications were in line with this year’s INWED theme of making safety seen - looking at safety in the air, on the ground and in the airport.

The school children visited Cranfield’s unique hangar lab and toured around an aircraft, before taking in the passenger experience lab. They got the chance to meet airport sniffer dogs and learn about what happens behind the scenes at airports to keep everyone safe.

Adrian Cole, Programme Manager for our Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre said: “It was fantastic to welcome these enthusiastic students to Cranfield University.

"Aviation is a fascinating and exciting career option, and we hope that many of them will be inspired to follow this path. Perhaps we will see some of them studying here at Cranfield in the future.”
