Speaking to a room of student police officers at Hendon on Tuesday, 15th November, Deputy Commissioner Dame Lynne Owens, said: “You have chosen the best career ever and it is a privilege to wear this uniform and hold this warrant card.”
On only their second official day in the Met - and the day before their attestations - almost 300 men and women were joined by the Deputy Commissioner in Simpson Hall, Hendon where they listened to her speak about the Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley’s mission for the Met, of more trust, less crime and high standards and what that means for them.
Dame Lynne Owens spent time answering questions from the students on a range of subjects such as personal resilience, her own policing career and crime challenges such as cyber crime and violence.
Closing the session, the Deputy Commissioner told the students: “You are the future of the Met and this is the most amazing organisation that needs people like you to help transform it into the police service we all want it to be - one that we are all proud of.”
