Work has already commenced inside the factory to prepare for new state-of-the-art equipment. Additional new DS furnaces which will be installed progressively from December, complementing an additional furnace already being fitted this year. The installation programme will continue over the next 12 to 18 months, ensuring a phased and efficient integration.

Spring 2026 will also see the start of ground works for a new 3,000 square metre production hall. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, the new hall will provide space to relocate equipment from the main building and introduce new large core manufacturing capabilities. This expansion will form the foundation of a Centre of Excellence for Core Manufacturing at Bochum.

Looking ahead, mid-2027 will mark the installation of a fully automated shell line, with the overall programme extending into 2028. Together, these developments will significantly increase capacity, strengthen capability, and position the site to capitalise on its long-term growth opportunities.

The expansion of the Bochum facility, which specialises in the manufacture of vacuum cast blades and vanes, as well as the superalloys used in their production, will also create new employment opportunities, with additional roles across engineering, production and finishing, as Doncasters continues to grow its Bochum team.

This programme represents a defining chapter for the site and underlines Doncasters’ commitment to innovation, capability and growth.
