The site has now completed the installation of a 2,400-panel solar array at the site on Vines Lane, marking a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainable manufacturing.
Now fully operational, the solar panels are generating a substantial share of the site’s electricity requirements, helping to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy resilience, and support Doncasters’ wider environmental strategy.
General Manager Adam Knight said: “This project represents a major investment in our future, not just as a business, but as a responsible manufacturer.
“Installing solar at this scale underscores our commitment to reducing emissions and operating more sustainably across our sites. It’s something our team is incredibly proud to have delivered.”
General Counsel and Head of Sustainability Helen Barrett-Hague said: “This investment demonstrates how Doncasters is embedding sustainability into the way we operate.
“By reducing our reliance on conventional energy and lowering our carbon footprint, we are not only meeting the expectations of our customers and other stakeholders but also taking responsibility for the impact we have on the communities where we work.”
The Droitwich installation is one of the largest solar projects within the Doncasters group to date and reflects a strategic shift toward decarbonisation across its operations. By integrating renewable energy at site level, the business is aligning innovation in engineering with innovation in environmental responsibility.
Knight said: “Deritend is now a flagship site for Doncasters’ sustainability ambitions. It proves that progress isn’t just about the parts we make – but how we power the processes behind them.”
This initiative forms part of Doncasters’ broader ESG roadmap, which includes investment in cleaner technologies, improved energy efficiency and more sustainable production methods across its UK and international footprint.
