In his new role, Shakir will work directly with airport clients and stakeholders to identify where the firm’s capabilities can deliver measurable impact, supporting long-term programmes spanning expansion, operational performance, sustainability and capacity optimisation.

The appointment reflects Egis’s wider strategy to grow its presence in the UK and Irish airport sector and underlines its increased commitment to the industry, as operators respond to rising passenger demand, decarbonisation requirements and the need to optimise existing infrastructure.

The firm also operates a network of 21 airports worldwide, providing direct operational insight alongside its advisory and engineering expertise. Its services cover the full lifecycle of airport development, including strategy and business case development through to planning, design, delivery and operational readiness.

Martin Vallance, transport and mobility consulting director, Egis in the UK, said: “Shakir brings exceptional aviation expertise and a proven track record of delivering complex airport programmes across some of the most challenging environments globally. He combines deep technical understanding with strong commercial insight and a clear ability to drive outcomes at both operational and programme level. We’re thrilled to have him on board as we continue to strengthen our position in the UK and Ireland.”

Shakir added: “Egis has a strong global reputation in aviation and a breadth of capability across airport advisory, development and operations. There is a clear opportunity to bring this expertise together more cohesively across the UK, Ireland and wider Europe and to work closely with airport partners to deliver long-term, sustainable value.
