The capacity boost will see more services on its highly popular Heathrow to Helsinki route from 27th November and additional frequencies from Manchester and Dublin to Helsinki from 3rd December.

Customers can now benefit from seven additional flights between Heathrow and Helsinki from 17th December to 2nd January, as Finnair increases flights over the festive period.

From 27th November, the Nordic carrier will also introduce a new weekend service, departing Helsinki for Heathrow every Saturday evening and returning to the Finnish capital on Sunday morning.

The popular London to Helsinki route will also see the reintroduction of twin-aisle - aircraft from December.

Finnair will re-introduce larger wide-bodied aircraft on certain flights to meet the improved demand from customers and cargo, with extra capacity on the A330s and A350s providing an enhanced traveller experience when heading north to Helsinki.

In addition, Finnair will increase its services from Manchester and Dublin over the seasonal holidays. Between 3rd December and 17th December, both routes will benefit from an additional return flight on a Friday. This extra service will also operate on 7th January 2022.

The popular route from Helsinki to Edinburgh will continue to be served during this winter period three times a week.

Andrew Fish, Finnair General Manager UK, Ireland & Benelux, said: “We’re excited to continue our recovery and re-establish our popular frequencies from the UK and Ireland in line with customer demand for flights to Finland over the festive season.

“Finnair customers will be able to enjoy further flight flexibility when travelling for business or leisure from London to Helsinki, thanks to extra capacity for travellers eager to experience Finland's winter period.

“We’re also pleased to be introducing extra seats on our Manchester and Dublin services to Helsinki to provide greater regional connectivity from the north of England and for our Irish customers.”

The Finnish flag carrier continues to expand its route network and ramp up in line with customer demand as it continues its journey back to pre-pandemic levels.

With the addition of these new flights, customers will find it easier to connect onto the airline’s expansive network, including an array of destinations in Europe, Asia and North America.
