Recruitment teams from a diverse range of airport-based or associated partner companies including air traffic control operators NATS, ground handlers Swissport and Menzies, security specialists ICTS and catering specialists Select Service Partners (SSP) were present to fill hundreds of full-time, part-time and seasonal employment opportunities. Airlines Loganair and Jet2 were also in attendance to recruit for a range of positions as well as special assistance providers OCS and facilities management company ABM.

Transport operators First, McGill’s and Stagecoach were recruiting for a large number of trainee and Public Service Vehicle (PSV) driver positions across their networks. Several of the airport’s retailers including World Duty Free and both the Celtic and Rangers stores also took part. External travel agent partners Barrhead Travel and Hays Travel were also in attendance offering a range of opportunities.

In a first this year, jobseekers with sensory issues could also make use of the planned quiet hour between 3pm and 4pm.

Ronald Leitch, Interim Chief Operating Officer of AGS Airports, which owns Glasgow Airport, said: “Thanks to the hard work of the Glasgow Airport team, I’m thrilled to say that this year’s jobs fair was a huge success. I was pleased to see so many people attending to see what career opportunities were available to them.

“The airport is one of the region’s largest employers and it was evident today that, following a difficult few years for aviation, so many people were keen to work with us.  I’ve spent more than half my life working in airports and they are fantastic places not only to work, but to build a career.

“The initial feedback from the campus colleagues who took part in the jobs fair is that the recruitment drive was very positive in terms of filling the vacancies they had, which ultimately puts the airport in a strong footing for the busy summer period.”

Glasgow Airport estimates that more than 8.5 million passengers will travel through the airport in 2024.
