This industry-first innovation offers a carbon footprint saving of 3.7kg CO2e per coverall, raising safety standards but also demonstrating the firm’s unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility. The ORKA ECO range represents a significant step forward in flame retardant and antistatic offshore coveralls and results in a reduction of over 55 litres of water consumption per unit.

The sustainable coverall is a result of extensive research and development and is crafted from a unique blend of fire-resistant (FR) treated fabric, cotton, eco fibres, and recycled PET, with 50% of the fabric being sustainable green fibres.

Shauni Addison, Business Development Manager, Hazchem Safety, said “We are incredibly proud to introduce our ORKA ECO range to the market – we believe this is an industry first and with this groundbreaking product, we are not only setting new standards for safety but also leading the way in environmental responsibility.  Our aim is to provide our clients and their workers with the best protection possible while minimizing the industry’s carbon footprint in line with our own company net zero plans.”

With targets of £150k in revenue by the end of the year, Hazchem anticipates significant demand, particularly in the North Sea market. In conjunction with the ORKA ECO range, the firm continues to provide the female worker with the ORKA Ladies Fit offshore coverall which was launched in October 2022. The ORKA range is supplied directly to customers as well as over the trade counter in Dyce and via Hazchem’s new electric van delivery service throughout the North-east of Scotland.

Hazchem Safety, with offices and distribution sites in Aberdeen and Brackley, was founded in 1978 and has grown to be the UK’s leading supplier of workwear and PPE for hazardous environments within the energy sector. Hazchem offers its own range of ORKA Technical Workwear – a range of flame retardant and hi-vis workwear designed for the offshore oil and gas industries and its HAZTEC technical workwear brand. Its original ORKA Magnus coverall is an industry benchmark and all products are available through its UK sites and trade counter in Dyce, Aberdeen.
