Iberia Express launches Manchester to Madrid service

Iberia Express yesterday launched its flights from Manchester Airport to Madrid.

The low-cost carrier, will operate return flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays until the end of October. Throughout the winter season, the airline will offer two services a week between both cities, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

During the traditional ribbon cutting and cake ceremony before the departure of the first flight, Stephen Turner, Commercial Director for Manchester Airport, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Iberia Express to Manchester Airport. The airline will provide further choice for customers looking to visit Madrid as well as giving the opportunity to connect to Iberia’s Group extensive route network. The start of this service to Manchester further strengthens our position in the North West and beyond in providing customers with the widest choice of airlines and destinations to choose from.’

Iberia Express head of Revenue Management & Network, Trevor Martin, stated: ‘The launch of this route is an important milestone for us, as it strengthens our position in the British market where we already offer six routes. From now on, our customers will be able to fly from Manchester to Madrid with our airline at competitive prices and enjoying a good, as well as efficient service. Iberia Express was one of world’s most punctual low cost carrier in 2014 and has been able to regain that position during some months this year’.

The flights are timed to offer easy connections from Madrid to Valencia, Vigo, and other Spanish destinations, as well as to Lisbon, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Montevideo, Santiago de Chile, São Paulo, and Tel Aviv.

The Iberia Group currently operates 176 weekly flights from the British airports of Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Edinburgh, and Manchester to Madrid, Gran Canaria, Majorca, Tenerife and Vigo. All Iberia Group flights between the UK and Spain are offered under code-share with British Airways. Members of the British Airways Executive Club FF programme can also earn and redeem Avios when they fly with Iberia.
