IFA enhances its forging capability

Independent Forgings and Alloys Ltd (IFA), has unveiled a new forging capability with the addition of a RFN200T rotary forge machine, transferred from the Advanced Forging Research Centre in Strathclyde Glasgow – part of the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland (NMIS) – to IFA’s facility in Sheffield.

The innovative manufacturing method will reduce product and manufacturing cost compared to existing methods, enabling customer in defence, aerospace and IGT to use innovative technology to reduce their produce costs as well as improve material properties.

Following installation of the new machine, IFA will continue to work with the Advanced Forging Research Centre, to build on previous work completed on the machine to further develop the forging technology.
