IPC Mouldings Awarded SC21 Silver for a Third Time

Northern Ireland injection moulding company, IPC Mouldings, has again achieved the Silver Award in the Aerospace Supply Chain Programme SC21, recognising their continued development and improvements in performance.

The Carrickfergus company is sponsored through the programme by Collins Aerospace (formerly Rockwell Collins); the newly formed aviation giant which combines the strengths of two of aerospace’s leading innovators, Rockwell Collins and United Technologies.

IPC Mouldings is a single source solution supplying a full service with mould tool design and manufacture, CNC machining, production and assembly of components using high performance engineering polymers for aircraft interiors and other industries.

SC21 is one of the largest supply chain improvement programmes in the UK’s aerospace and defence sector. Managed by ADS on a national and international level, the change programme is designed to accelerate the competitiveness of the aerospace and defence industry by raising the performance of its supply chain.

Last week the UK Government launched the Aerospace Sector Deal with £10M matched by industry for a new supply chain competitiveness programme to build on the success of Supply Chain 21 (SC21) to support SMEs in the UK aerospace supply chain.

Following receipt of the award, Joanne Liddle, Managing Director of IPC Mouldings said, “It is a very proud moment in the company’s 24-year history.  As we celebrate receiving the SC21 award for a third time, it emphasises our commitment to excellence, dedication to best practice and high quality manufacturing which are IPC’s core business values. The support of Invest NI and ADS throughout this programme has been instrumental to our success.”

To achieve the SC21 Silver award, the company has to consistently demonstrate assured quality and delivery performance, along with a strong commitment to growth.

Joanne added; “The IPC team is passionate about quality and performance and there is a shared culture to innovate, improve operations and pursue a future of continual growth and development.”

Dr Leslie Orr, Director ADS NI, said: “Northern Ireland has a very strong aerospace supply base. SC21 recognition is a valuable accolade that will not only strengthen the relationship IPC Mouldings has with their customers but also add to the strength of the aerospace sector in the region. This is indeed great news for IPC Mouldings.”

For 11 years Invest Northern Ireland, as a regional partner, has remained committed to the programme and continues to support local companies to progress them on their SC21 journey.  Working in partnership with ADS and the industry, Invest NI is encouraging best practice and increased competitiveness across the supply base, underpinned by a culture of continuous improvement. Thus ensuring Northern Ireland Aerospace stays ahead in an increasingly globally competitive environment.

Joanne continued, “With an average performance of 99% quality and delivery sustained over five years, IPC Mouldings is proven to be consistent in business, manufacturing and relationship excellence and this award demonstrates that consistency of excellence to the wider industry and our customers.

“Receiving the SC21 Silver award is the best way to end what has been a very successful year for the company and I look forward to seeing what comes of 2019.”

This award adds to the company’s portfolio of industry recognised accreditations: ISO 9001, AS9100 and EFQM 4 Star.
