JFD opens new Singapore facility

Provider of specialist marine and defence solutions, James Fisher and Sons plc (JFD Global), has expanded its Asia Pacific footprint with the official opening of a new facility in Singapore.

The expanded site marks a significant milestone to establish a regional centre of excellence for front line customer support and service maintenance across all of JFD’s subsea capabilities. The Singapore team currently manages maintenance contracts across defence and commercial diving, including submarine rescue and military rebreathers.

The enhanced footprint includes upgraded workshops, cleanroom facilities, stores and dry rooms, enabling increased capacity, deeper technical capability and improved responsiveness, to provide real-time support for defence and commercial diving customers throughout the region.

The new facility also lays the foundation for future servicing of JFD’s advanced rebreather systems, including Stealth Multi-Role, the latest addition to the company’s military rebreather product line.

Supporting this growth is the recent appointment of Keith Ong as General Manager, Singapore. Keith brings more than 20 years of defence and maritime engineering experience, including a distinguished career with the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). His expertise spans ship and submarine combat systems, as well as complex communications systems that underpin mission critical naval operations.

Keith Ong said: “Joining JFD at this pivotal moment is a tremendous opportunity. The opening of our new facility reflects both our ambition and our confidence in the region, and it was a privilege to welcome so many customers and partners to celebrate this milestone with us.

“What we have built here combines deep technical expertise, expanded capability, and a team committed to safety and delivering solutions aligned with our customers’ operational requirements. This positions us to support the region with the responsiveness and quality it needs.”

Richard Devlin, Defence Director at JFD, added: “We’re pleased to welcome Keith to JFD in Singapore, his appointment is key to our strategic growth in the region. He and his team will deliver safe, reliable and responsive in-country support to our customers from this new facility.

“Our investment in this new centre of excellence demonstrates our commitment to supporting Singapore’s defence and commercial diving needs. The long-standing partnerships we’ve established over many years will drive future growth for our business in the region.”
