JMC signs contract with Ryanair for FLS tasks

Exeter based JMC Group has signed an agreement to support nine aircraft through the Boeing 737 Flight Length Sensitive (FLS) inspection programme with Ryanair.

The agreement marks the first time the two companies have worked together, with the two lines of nose-to-tail FLS inspections taking place throughout the remainder of the winter season.

Tony Eversden, JMC Group’s Head of Engineering, commented: “We’re delighted to have been appointed to support the FLS inspection programme on Ryanair’s Boeing 737 aircraft. FLS operations can be delivered globally by our dedicated in-house team of engineers, all of whom are experienced in delivering a wide range of scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance services within the aviation sector.”

FLS tasks require mandatory fuel tank structure inspections, which involve JMC technicians carrying out all the preparation for NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) by removing sealant and cleaning, often working in compact areas with limited accessibility. After the necessary inspections are completed the JMC technicians will re-seal the disturbed areas.

“Given the complex nature of the work and limited access, our team of technicians can be relied on to carry out the necessary modifications safely and to the highest standards,” Eversden added.

Joel Crook, JMC Group’s Project Manager for Fixed Price Engineering has been tasked to oversee the team of specialist engineers and ensure all aspects of the work are managed in line with Ryanair’s requirements.

Adam Hale, Head of Base Maintenance at Ryanair said: “We are looking forward to working with JMC’s FLS inspection team on our Boeing 737 aircraft at Prestwick Airport. Maintaining airworthiness of our aircraft is our number one priority and JMC’s reputation for accomplishing tasks safely and to the highest standards supported our decision to appoint them to support our FLS inspection programme.”

To date JMC Group has overseen over 35 FLS projects across Europe.
