Loganair opens Glasgow to Bergen service

The first service between Glasgow Airport and the Norwegian city of Bergen has taken to the skies.

Operated by Loganair, the twice-weekly summer service from Glasgow to ‘the Gateway to the Fjords of Norway’, the regional carrier will connect the two cities for the first time.

Tickets can be booked to travel on Mondays and Fridays up until August 28, 2017, with fares starting at £79.99 one-way including all taxes and charges plus a complimentary checked baggage allowance.

The route will be operated by a 50-seat Saab 2000 aircraft from Glasgow, the only link from Scotland’s Central Belt to the city.

Bergen is a European City of Culture and World Heritage City. Known as the ‘Gateway to the Fjords of Norway’, the region combines nature, culture and interesting urban attractions.

Loganair managing director Jonathan Hinkles said: “It’s fantastic to be able to launch a new route from our main hub airport, connecting the West of Scotland with Norway’s second largest city.

“We are operating this service seasonally for summer travellers and bookings have been strong. Bergen is the ideal holiday destination, famous for its colourful city-centre, the Hanseatic Wharf, a fish market, and one of Norway's biggest cultural events, the Bergen International Festival.

“By offering the twice weekly connections, customers can visit for a long-weekend or an extended stay of one week or 10 days.”

Paul White, Glasgow Airport’s Business Development Manager, said: “This is fantastic news from Loganair which is one of our longest serving airline partners. We are continually working to expand our route network and this is the first time Glasgow will have had a direct, scheduled service to Norway’s second city. I have no doubt Bergen will prove to be a huge draw for leisure travellers and we’re looking forward to working closely with Loganair to ensure the success of the route.”
