Marshall Aerospace wins its third Colombian Air Force PDM contract
Fastcol Aircraft provides flight-line MRO services to the Colombian Air Force and awarded Marshall Aerospace the first deep-maintenance contract in 2010, under which a significant milestone was the removal of a C-130’s wings in Colombia; a first in the country. A subsequent contract was awarded in March 2011.
Steve Fitz-Gerald, CEO of Marshall Aerospace, commented: “We’re delighted to have been awarded a third contract from Fastcol to support the PDM as it’s a great testimonial to how, where and why Marshall Aerospace’s specialist engineering expertise is being called upon to support MRO operations.”
The Colombian Air Force operates eight C-130s, a mix of H and B models, where the former typically require a standard overhaul and the latter need an overhaul plus modernising (for example, re-wiring and new instrument gauges).
Under the contracts awarded to date Marshall Aerospace has supported work on tail numbers FAC1004 (completed in September 2011) and FAC1001 (due for completion in April of this year); and tail number FAC1015 has just arrived on site at the Colombian Air Force’s CAMAN Airbase near Bogotá. The contracts are time-based, and this just-awarded contract is set to run through to the end of November of this year.
