Serco appoints Craig Thomson as Prison Director at HMP Kilmarnock

Craig Thomson has returned to and taken over as Serco’s Contract Director at HMP Kilmarnock.

Craig Thomson (above) is a highly respected and very experienced Prison Director who returns to Kilmarnock from HMP Thameside in London where he has worked for the past four years

Craig has a distinguished 34-year career history working within the criminal justice sector around the world. He served in both the public sector prison service and the police service before joining Serco in 2001 as the Deputy Director of HMP Dungavel.

Prior to taking up post at HMP Kilmarnock Craig has previously been the Director in charge of four separate custodial prisons over the last 17 years for the Ministry of Justice and the Scottish Prison Service and he brings significant leadership and operational experience to the team at Kilmarnock

Talking about his new job, Craig said: “I’m really proud and excited to return to HMP Kilmarnock. This prison has a very good reputation and has a great team who do a fantastic job. I’m really looking forward to working here once again and building on all the good work that’s been done over the past few years.”
