Skan and Schall forge an alliance

Skan Group Holdings - which owns Oldbury UK and Boughton Engineering - has established a reciprocal strategic and collaborative alliance with Germany's M. Schall GmbH & Co. KG.

The complementary fit between the two companies, in terms of products and capabilities, will enable the alliance to respond to requirements of significantly broader scope. Oldbury UK will act as Schall’s exclusive representative in the UK and the agreement is reciprocated for Germany. The companies will collaborate as required for projects in other markets.

Schall is Germany’s leading manufacturer of inflatable and frame supported tents, softwall enclosures and corridor systems. It offers a wide range of standard products, turnkey and bespoke solutions, plus a maintenance and service capability to support international mission sites and other operational environments. The range includes functional containers and tactical operative systems, for applications such as field hospitals and expeditionary accommodation, sunshields and camouflage systems, CBRN protection and decontamination units – and logistics platforms.

Oldbury UK is synonymous with engineered and integrated ‘mobility solutions’ – the provision of bespoke systems which enable operational portability, effective logistics and rapid deployment capability of equipment into theatres and elsewhere.

Oldbury and Boughton Group Managing Director, Richard Skan said: “This development brings together two privately owned companies which share both a similar ethos and culture. To the end customer, the alliance really does deliver benefits and capabilities which are ‘greater than the sum of the two parts’. Our teams are already beginning to work together on specific projects and we look forward to developing the complementary aspects of our businesses into a genuinely one-stop offering.”

Stefan Monig, Schall Managing Director says, “Strategic alliances and partnerships between SME companies with great synergies are the shape of future supply chains. The combined resources, engineering experience and product range of our two companies make a very strong and compelling business case for procurement agencies around the world – all of whom are looking for the optimum added value within their programme requirements”.

Oldbury UK is now one of Europe’s leading specialist platform providers and integrators, with a core focus on vehicle engineering and containerised, trailerised, bespoke, special purpose and UOR solutions. Its design, development, engineering resources and fully equipped fabrication, erecting and finishing facilities also provide extensive MRO, upgrade and re-engineering capabilities. The company believes this capability will become increasingly important as in-service equipment returns from theatre.

Oldbury UK’s established range of equipment now includes generator sets, air conditioning packages, sand filters, solar shields and enclosures, as well as standard, bespoke, specialist and multi-role (MR) trailers and integrated mobile platforms.
