The machining and fabrication firm has been approved by JOSCAR (Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register) – a prestigious, industry-recognised register used by leading aerospace, defence and security manufacturers to streamline how they vet and select their suppliers and subcontractors. This accreditation means Titan is regarded as a preferred partner for primary defence contractors.
In quick succession, Titan has also secured Cyber Essentials Plus certification – a government-backed, independently verified cybersecurity standard. This places Titan among an elite group of UK manufacturers with the highest level of defence against cyber-attacks, crucial in protecting sensitive defence data.
Ryan Hanger, Director at Titan Manufacturing, said: “These certifications are far more than badges of honour. For first-tier military suppliers, they represent trust, readiness and assurance. Being JOSCAR-accredited means our capabilities and compliance have already been verified, removing barriers for defence sector clients who must ensure they have reliable, secure and vetted partners.”
Titan has delivered on military projects in the past, particularly in manufacturing components for land systems and military vehicles. However, this latest round of accreditations marks a major turning point for the company’s trajectory within the defence supply chain.
Ryan said: “Given the current global political climate, there’s a heightened sense of urgency across the defence sector. These accreditations couldn’t have come at a more critical time for us.
“We’ve already seen tangible results; at a recent defence industry event, just mentioning our JOSCAR and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications helped secure several new client engagements. We're now in active discussions on six defence-related projects as a direct result.”
Securing both accreditations meant months of intensive work, with the Titan team dedicating hundreds of hours to ensure they meet the strict audit requirements. These covered everything from staff training, site security and compliance policies, to data handling procedures and IT infrastructure.
Cyber Essentials Plus requires not only the implementation of strong cybersecurity practices, but also external assessment by an accredited third party to ensure compliance, with requirements across internal systems, data protocols and physical infrastructure.
Ryan said: “Our clients share sensitive information with us – schematics, plans, data – so we need strict safeguards in place to protect against cyber attacks. That is especially true in the case of defence contracts. Cyber Essentials Plus gives our clients the confidence that their data is protected at every level.”
Titan’s recent achievements have also been bolstered by two additional milestones within the past month. The Dorset firm gained membership of the ADS group – the trade association for the UK’s aerospace, defence, security and space industries which represents 1,600+ UK businesses, including major players like Airbus, Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems. Their membership “further underlines Titan’s specialist knowledge and commitment to excellence within the defence sector supply chain,” said Ryan.
Also, as of the end of March, Titan is now a registered member of Made in Britain, reinforcing the company’s commitment to British quality, craftsmanship, innovation and support for local industry and jobs.
Ryan said: “Our customers can now trust that when they choose Titan Manufacturing, they’re choosing products that are proudly made in Britain.
“These accreditations and memberships aren’t just a tick-box exercise. Taken together they reflect our deep-rooted commitment to quality, security, and excellence. They also mean we are primed and ready to take on work delivering the next generation of UK defence projects, representing an exciting new era of growth for Titan Manufacturing.”
