Skyborne named official military personnel training provider

Skyborne Airline Academy has been named as an Approved Learning Provider for serving military personnel and service leavers, allowing them to use Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) towards the cost of their pilot training.

Trainees will be able to use up to £2,000 per year of funding under the ELC scheme towards the cost of more than 15 different courses at Skyborne’s Gloucestershire Airport HQ. These range from fast jet, multi-engine and rotary conversion courses to Skyborne’s EASA/UKCAA Modular ATPL programme.

Ian Cooper, Chief Operating Officer, Skyborne, said: “We’re passionate about improving access to pilot training and as an ELC Approved Learning Provider, we are proud that military personnel in resettlement can use this funding across our range of training courses.

“From our Skyborne Private Pilot Licence (PPL), through to our bespoke military conversion courses and Combined Modular programme, we look forward to supporting trainees as they explore the next phase of their civilian career.”

James Lawrence, current Modular ATPL student at Skyborne, says: “After 16 years in the armed forces, I made the decision to embark on a new chapter and first used Enhanced Learning Credits towards the cost of my PPL course to continue my personal development.

“I intend to use the remainder of my funding towards the Skyborne Combined Modular ATPL programme and am currently completing my Modular ATPL Theory. Throughout the UK lockdown period, I have been exceptionally impressed with how proactive the team at Skyborne has been, with a seamless transition between the classroom and online learning.”

Military personnel and service leavers can make up to three ELC claims towards the cost of professional study through the Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS).
