Southern Air selects AJW for B747 and B777 PBH fleet support

Southern Air Inc. based in Kentucky, USA, has selected A J Walter Aviation (AJW), to provide power-by-the-hour (PBH) support to its current fleet of four B747 and four B777 aircraft.

This 12-year agreement for eight aircraft is AJW’s first contract with Southern Air Inc. and will provide the operator with global support across its numerous locations worldwide.

Since the company’s founding over 60 years ago, Southern Air Inc. has built its reputation as being one of the world’s most innovative and dependable operators and continues to revolutionise by being the world’s first ACMI provider of 777 freighters, offering versatile and efficient cargo solutions.

“We are delighted and extremely proud to be supporting Southern Air Inc. and will do everything we can to help the operator meet its objectives” says Boris Wolstenholme, chief executive of A J Walter Aviation. “Our customer support team in Miami will be the first point of contact to manage AJW’s comprehensive service which is designed to enable Southern Air Inc. stay competitive as they develop their business. We are stepping up our activities in North America and our new component repair facility, AJW Technique, will further enhance the integrated support we already provide for several airlines with lease, pooling and PBH solutions.”

Joe Meszaro, SVP – technical operations for Southern Air Inc. confirmed that the airline will take advantage of the significant benefits that this global agreement will deliver adding; “The power-by-the-hour service from AJW will reduce our cost base and help us align our operational strategy for maximum efficiency.”

AJW will support Southern Air Inc. from both its London and Miami based facilities which offer extensive service ready Boeing component inventories. AJW has recently invested more than $25m in inventory to support an increasing number of operators and MRO facilities across the Americas.
