“To be successful and take home an award like this is amazing,” said Andy Heyes, MD of Sweet Projects, who work across the defence sector. “We’re the only construction company to feature in the shortlist and to see how far we’ve come in three short years is an outstanding credit to each and every person we work with.”

“It’s the culmination of hard work across the company and this national recognition is great for the business and just as great for our people – the most important part of our business.”

Sweet Projects received the award at The Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards ceremony evening, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London. The Awards have become one of the UK’s largest and most admired awards programmes, celebrating the best of the best of British business.

Sarah Austin, Director of the British Business Excellence Awards, commented: “Sweet Projects is an incredibly high performing business that has gone from zero to incredible numbers in such a short space of time. Not only have they had such incredible financial growth, they have built a workforce of more than 100 people and successful NPS scores to follow. They are incredibly worthy winners of the Growth Business of the Year Award.”

Sweet Projects had to prove a robust plan of activity and processes to the awards judging covering sustainable growth, development of people, and responsible business practices to deliver ongoing and future financial success and business impact.

In the past year, Sweet Projects has grown from 60 employees to 110 people across multiple UK sites and with turnover doubling from £62 million to £130 million.

“Following the nomination earlier this year, we’ve continued to grow,” added Andy: “Our whole team has been bolstered with a newfound determination after being recognised in such a way and to be revealed as the best of the best in the Growth category is a brilliant achievement.”
