Nick Ames, CEO of Supacat said: “It was an honour and a privilege to welcome Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to our design engineering and manufacturing facility in Devon. He was being hosted by Simon Jupp, the Conservative Candidate for our constituency. We were also delighted to host Rebecca Pow, the Conservative Candidate, from our neighbouring constituency, where our vehicle test track is located.

"With a proud history of 44 years of trading with the UK and other Governments worldwide, the opportunity to share our story and experiences and put them into the context of this General Election was unique and welcomed.

"Our staff were inspired and motivated by his presence, and we look forward to many more years of providing the British Army and other Allied Nations with world-class defence equipment from our base in East Devon.”

This timely visit was also an opportunity for the Prime Minister to meet Supacat apprentices. With Supacat expanding and creating new jobs, offering a wide range of apprenticeships to school leavers and adults, including engineering, business operations and business management, equating to approximately 7% of the workforce, it was an opportunity for the apprentices to share their experiences working for an established defence vehicle manufacturer.

Simon Jupp, Conservative Candidate for East Devon stated: “It was great to welcome the Prime Minister to Dunkeswell to discuss our plan to deliver thousands of new apprenticeships and learn more about the exciting career paths offered by Supacat to young people. I’ll always stand up for local defence jobs and brilliant local businesses such as Supacat who play a big role in the nation’s security.”
