ACC Evans was appointed this week as the permanent successor to Met Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) Tim Jacques, who has retired from policing after 37 years, the last six of which saw DAC Jacques serve as Deputy SNC and SNC.

ACC Evans joined Cambridgeshire Constabulary in May 2020 and prior to her appointment she held the role of temporary ACC at Dyfed-Powys Police. She has more than 20 years of policing experience working in a variety of roles such as response policing, crime investigation, serious and organised crime and covert policing.

Over the last 12 months, ACC Evans has been the NPCC lead on the implementation of the volume two recommendations of the Manchester Arena Inquiry.

The Commissioner of the Met Police, Sir Mark Rowley said: “I would like to thank Tim for his many years of dedicated service, most recently in counter terrorism.

“So much of the vital work in this area goes on behind closed doors, out of sight of many not just in the public but also in the rest of policing.

“I am grateful to Tim for his leadership and on behalf of all in the Met, I wish him the very best in retirement.

“We look forward to welcoming Vicki to the Met and to Counter Terrorism Policing. She has been appointed from an impressive field and brings a great deal of experience to her new role.”

Matt Jukes, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing and Assistant Commissioner at the Met, said of the appointment:

“Vicki steps into a critical role, and brings with her all her experience as a senior investigator and operational commander, of working with government, other agencies and critically with local policing.

“I am delighted that she will be joining the team at the heart of this unique partnership, and we look forward to welcoming her into the SNC position in the near future.”

ACC Vicki Evans, said: “It is an honour and privilege to have been asked to carry out the role of Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing.

“There is an outstanding group of extremely dedicated, skilled and professional officers, staff and partners working across the counter terrorism network and the wider policing family.

“I look forward to building on these relationships to counter the threat our communities face from terrorism.”
