AtkinsRéalis supports US Military Medical Center in Germany

AtkinsRéalis, has been selected by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to supply Initial Outfitting & Transition (IO&T) services for the Rhine Ordinance Barracks Medical Center (ROBMC) in Weilerbach Germany.

The ROBMC will replace the 70-year-old Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) and US Air Force 86th Medical Group (86th MDG) Ramstein Air Force Base facility. The new modern medical campus will support 49,000 active duty servicemembers and their families.

“This facility is a vital component of the US defence strategy in Europe, enhancing medical care for US Forces and strengthening ties with NATO allies. It’s an incredible honour to once again provide our specialised services and technical capabilities in support of the men, women and their families who ensure our freedom and safety.”

Under a 65 month, US$193.9 million task order award to replace an iconic legacy facility, AtkinsRéalis is providing project management, inventory, interior design, equipment planning, purchasing, warehousing, overseas shipping, disposition of excess equipment, installation, calibration and testing at ROBMC. The Company will also provide training and phased transition support to approximately 2,500 facility staff members to ensure a seamless move and optimum operational efficiency.

Comprehensive technical services delivered by AtkinsRéalis’ Global Technology Center (GTC), including digital 3D design, AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) will maximise efficiency and streamline delivery. Virtual Reality mock-ups will allow reviewers to visualise space layouts and workflow while allowing for real time adjustments as necessary. AtkinsRéalis also developed a tablet based mobile app specifically for Military Treatment Facility (MTF) inventorying that synchronises photos, serial numbers and manufacturer information to enhance equipment cataloging. 

AtkinsRéalis has a significant European presence with over 13,000 employees based in the UK & Ireland as well as offices in France, Germany, Poland and Romania. The Company’s offices in Hamburg and Oldenburg, Germany, enable the hiring of local nationals to provide responsive support. The Company has successfully delivered 16 USACE projects in seven countries and has completed several of the largest Defense Health Agency facilities to include the Brian D. Allgood Community Hospital in South Korea, Weed Army Community Hospital, Fort Irwin, CA and the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick, MD. In addition, AtkinsRéalis was recently awarded a US$62 million task order award for the General Leonard Wood Community Hospital. The Company has also completed IO&T projects for the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs and many commercial healthcare projects.
