The four - Annie, Luke, Lewis and Justin - and are among a cohort of 12 on the 'BHX High-Flyers' apprenticeship scheme at the Midlands transport hub.:

  • Annie Sharman, 19, from Coventry, BHX airfield engineering apprentice, said: “Ultimately I’d love to go into management and different departments but most of all, I want to enjoy going into work - and I think I will because every day is different at BHX.”
  • Luke Taylor, 20, from Castle Bromwich, BHX baggage operations apprentice, said: “At the end of this apprenticeship I want to get a role that I can make a career out of.”
  • Lewis Dallimore, 17, Solihull, BHX maintenance engineering apprentice, said: “I hope to end up with a job at the end of it and then loop back around and, who knows, one day I could potentially be interviewing would-be engineers in future.”
  • Justin Listhrop, 24, Birmingham, BHX airfield engineering apprentice, said: “I’ve always liked building things, taking them apart and putting them back together, so when I saw this opportunity, I went for it. Once I get the skills and knowledge, I can take that into so many different roles. It will open doors and opportunities for me.”

BHX departments offering apprenticeships in future years will include Engineering, Fire Service, IT, Customer Service, Airfield Operations, Human Resources and Baggage Operations.
