DASA showcases protective material innovations

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) will be showcasing the latest in protective transparent material innovations at an interactive event in December.

Representatives from the Armed Forces, government, and industry will be able to see how they can benefit from recent developments in new robust, lightweight, high-performing, protective materials, which have the potential to offer better performance and reduced cost.

Innovations with potential new and improved capabilities on display will include those with possible uses for the protection of vehicles, personnel and sensors.

These may include:

  • The control of reflection from transparencies
  • Protection for sensors
  • Laminated glazing
  • Laminated windows for logistic and support vehicles
  • Public order protection
  • Protection from explosive ordnance

The innovation and capability exploitation day, hosted alongside the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) Materials for Strategic Advantage Programme, will take place in Hampshire on 17 December 2019.

All innovations showcased on the day have received funding through either the DSTL Materials for Strategic Advantage Programme or the DASA Open Call .
