In the UK and across Europe, space has never been more fundamental to security and modern economies with space infrastructure vital to defence, communications, navigation, finance, energy and emergency response. In the UK the sector is valued at £18.6 billion to the UK economy, with the European Space Agency (ESA) confirming a budget of €22.1 billion from 2026-28, and a global industry valued at an estimated $1 trillion by 2030.

Space-Comm Expo will take place against the backdrop of the UK Space Agency (UKSA) merging in to Department of Science, Innovation and Technology, the announcement this week of Dr Paul Bate stepping down as CEO and Elon Musk’s SpaceX merger with xAI to create the world’s most valuable private company.

Will Whitehorn OBE, Executive Chair of Space-Comm Expo, said:  "We are in the midst of an industrial space revolution, and right now an explosion in the dual use of satellite data and technology for defence and civilian purposes in tandem. The SpaceX and xAI merger will be seismic for the industry and investors, with launch capacity, satellite constellations and orbital infrastructure accelerating exponentially. Space-Comm Expo Europe provides a vital forum for leaders from government, industry and business to promote collaboration, innovation and drive investment to help accelerate the full potential of the UK and European space sector.”

Alun Williams, ADS Director of Space, said: “The UK space sector has matured into a hub of world-class entrepreneurship, engineering and innovation, supporting over 55,000 highly skilled jobs and delivering over £18.6 billion in value to the UK economy. Space-Comm Expo Europe is a fantastic opportunity to spotlight that impressive contribution and gather together to drive innovation, strengthen industry-government relationships and unlock new commercial ventures during this new space age."
