MASS introduces UK MoD Cyber Protection compliance support

Following the implementation of the UK MoD Cyber Protection requirements in all new procurements from 1 January 2016, MASS has introduced a solution to support supplier compliance.

Since the beginning of the year, all suppliers in MoD supply chains must hold a Cyber Essential Certificate prior to contract or subcontract award.

MASS is able to provide Cyber Essentials, enabling organisations and their supply chain to comply with the MoD’s new standard - Cyber Security for Defence Suppliers (Defence Standard 05-138).

MASS successfully manages, supports and delivers critical network environments including some of the government’s most secure IT systems.  Cyber Essentials certification will be carried out by one of the company’s Information Assurance specialists, who are all CESG certified.

Benefits include:

  • Continued participation in MoD and other government contracts
  • Identification of any gaps in your cyber-related procedures, and recommendations for the most cost-effective way to address any shortfalls
  • Independent assurance that you are well protected from cyber attacks
  • Anticipation of the more extensive DCPP requirements that apply in all new procurements from mid-2016
  • Help in securing government innovation vouchers to support accreditation costs
  • Free automatic cyber liability insurance, limit of liability up to £25,000, underwritten by AIG for any UK organisation with less than £20m annual turnover

Cyber Essentials packages include Cyber Essentials Basic, with secure online self-assessment to onsite consultation and support to help with completion of the self-assessment questionnaire and Cyber Essentials Plus, which involves an independent assessment of an organisation’s cyber security controls. Cyber Essentials Plus provides a higher level of assurance of an organisation’s ability to protect against a variety of Internet-based security threats through processes such as vulnerability testing and cyber-attack scenarios.
