Permali Gloucester to supply composite ballistic armour to Supacat

Permali Gloucester Ltd has been awarded a contract to supply composite ballistic armour panels to Supacat for its HMT Extenda Vehicle.

The panels will provide ballistic protection on a specific HMT Extenda vehicle being designed and built for a major order that Supacat will be delivering in 2017/18.

The contract was won following a competition, which required Permali to demonstrate ballistic performance, against a demanding set of requirements, in the wide range of environmental temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to. The performance parameters had to be demonstrated whilst remaining within a tightly controlled system weight budget.

Stu Olden, Sales Manager for Land Systems at Permali commented: “This is a significant contract for Permali. It is the first awarded to us by Supacat, a leading specialist military vehicle designer famous for its high mobility vehicles. Measured against credible competition, we have demonstrated that, as a UK SME, Permali maintains its position as a world leader in the development of composite technology for military platforms.”

Ben Gaffney, Supacat’s Deputy Head, New Programmes commented: “Permali's comprehensive bid response, together with their at-risk testing and engineering design activity, gave us the requisite levels of confidence to place the order. We’re looking forward to working with Permali to deliver this exciting new addition to the HMT vehicle offering.”
